What’s a StoryCapade?

Um. We just kind of made it up.

In college, when my cousin and I were roommates, we occasionally splurged on a restaurant where we would try new foods, and somewhere along the way we started calling those adventures “FoodCapades.” Years later when we realized that we kept traveling together and that our travels inspired (and often were inspired by) story ideas, we started referring to them as “StoryCapades.” Here’s my best definition so far:

An adventure beyond the usual dog-eared pages of favorite books, often undertaken with bookworm timidity, gradually liberating unconventional behaviors involving accidental shenanigans, and unavoidably inspiring entire characters, scenes, plots, backstories, and other writerly endeavors.

So there you have it. We like to write. We like to talk. We like to travel and explore new things. We like to tell stories. Sometimes it seems like we do everything the hard way. Another cousin once pointed out that best stories come out of those challenging life experiences.

    1. Hahaha…me too! I’ve been trying to get this off the ground for months, but I keep getting buried under so many fun new adventures. We’ll see how this goes! ❤
